There be none of Beauty's Daughters;
With a magic like thee.
And like music on the waters,
Is thy sweet voice to me.

Zinfandel adds a juicy character,
Merlot mellows and Cabernet adds backbone.
Forward, spicy and soft,
this delicious dalliance makes the perfect trio.

"Allen"

The other day I had to ask this man named Allen for "Ukulele Lessons" in order for him to deliver some weed to me, and my friends. I was throwing an impromptu party at my new apartment and was delighted to ask Ryan (my downstairs neighbor) for advice. He gave me the phone number of his roommate 'Kenny', whom I called immediately. I left a message on the voicemail of the number that 'Kenny' had texted me. I proceeded to laugh hysterically and declare my serious need for ukulele lessons. I then left my phone number. 'Kenny' promptly texted me back, informing me that the first number was in fact wrong, and that he was sorry. He sent me Allen's real number, however it was too late. I handed over the weed duties to my friends, Leila and Anthony, who are clearly way more equipped at being cool during drug deals, than I.

"The Log"

"The Log" was born in 1941, from the loins... I mean hands... Of a frustrated musician in attempt to cut distortion on his hollow bodied electric guitar. After attempting multiple experiments trying to rectify the situation, including filling his guitar with plaster, he eventually mounted a bridge, guitar neck and pick-up on a 4x4 fence post. The result was increased sustain, diminished feedback and one of the earliest "Solid Body" Electric Guitars. Sexy.

The musician's name is Les Paul. He later collaborated with Gibson in developing the legendary Gibson 'Les Paul', played by the likes of ,
Jimmy Page (my imaginary sugar daddy), Slash (aka my imaginary husband), and Dan Auerbach (my imaginary love slave). He also pioneered multitrack recording by commissioning Ampex, and Bing Crosby to commercially manufacture reel to reel audio tape recorders.

That was a looooong time ago. The surprising part of all this is that not only is Les Paul alive and kicking... But at 94 years old, he is still playing shows. He says: "It's Therapy". You can see him every Monday Night at
Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway & 51rst.

I would also like to say that I keep an emergency stash of Viagra in my purse in case of our inevitable chance meeting.

Just throwing that out there Les.

How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in
With gently smiling jaws!

Drinking whiskey reminds me of you
You're the first in ages to have gotten through
I know you mean well, yes I know that you do
But sooner or later you're going to break me in two
Were my pupils dilated?
Could you tell that I liked you?
We were so unlikely
You flirt with an ex, put me to the test though
And still I want to tell you that I love you the best
We turned the radiators on and there was no way back
Did you know
You had The Plough star trail on your back?
Your voice is quiet but I need it loud
In the night you went up
And in the morning you went down
And it's like you to forbid me to say goodnight
I had your brown eyes and limbs
On me through the night
These words are weak and to your dislike
But you'll never believe them so I guess it's alright

Do you like the view I show you?
Oh I say look at the light
Do you still miss the way that I hold you?
In other towns and cities
Who's holding you tonight?

The dresses came out of the bag then the tears came
And drinking has never been the same again
I shared your trouble, I shared your weight
I lost it with you today
And we don't share a birthday we do share a sign
And we shared something or was it in my mind
There was talk of love and how I need it back
I'd be better for you than that last love of mine
